GEVREY-CHAMBERTIN, PINOT NOIR 2013

139€ / 0,75l

Burgundia, Gevrey-Chambertin Pinot Noir

About the domain
The Faiveley family has been running this domain since 1825. In 2005 Erwan Faiveley succeeded his father in the management of the property which is one of the largest ones in Burgundy: 10 hectares of Grands Crus and nearly 25 hectares of Premier Crus, including several climates where it is the sole owner (Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru Clos des Issarts, Beaune Premier Cru Clos de l’Ecu and Clos des Cortons Faiveley Grand Cru). The vineyards remain very fragmented with an average size of 1 hectare in each appellation. In general, the wines of the domain are dense and fruity. The estate was the first in Burgundy to convert 120 hectares of vines to sustainable agriculture, having obtained the HVE (High Environmental Value)) certificate. Its conversion to organic practices started in 2022 and 2025 will be the first vintage to be certified organic.

Bordeaux, Margaux
Bordeaux Blend (Cab. Sauvignon 60%)

“The 2012 Rauzan-Ségla (54.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot and 1.5% Petit Verdot) is a classic Rauzan-Ségla, still relatively backward and tannic, but concentrated and extremely promising. Dense blueberry, blackberry and cassis fruit along with some licorice, vanilla, foresty notes and spice are all present in this full-bodied yet structured and big, beefy style of Rauzan-Ségla . It may turn out to be somewhat atypical for this château in its size and masculine structure, but this is impressive wine, and one of the great successes of the vintage. ” – Robert Parker

“The 2012 Rauzan-Ségla is super-classy from start to finish. Sweet floral notes meld into spice, dried flowers, lavender and black cherry. This is a distinctly racy, open Rauzan-Ségla that should drink well with minimal cellaring.” – Antonio Galloni

CHATEAU PONTET-CANET 2006

199€ / 0,75l

Bordeaux, Pauillac
Bordeaux Blend (Cab. Sauvignon)

Appellation – Pauillac

Owner – Alfred Tesseron

62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot

Second wine – Les Hauts de Pontet

Annual production – 320,000 bottles

The 2006 is a wine to stockpile, especially for those in their thirties and forties as it needs another decade to reach maturity, after which it should keep for 30+ years. This vineyard, just south of Mouton Rothschild, has produced an opaque bluish/purple-colored 2006 with an extraordinarily pure nose of graphite, charcoal, sweet creme de cassis, and a hint of scorched earth. Incredible concentration, stunning richness, and a 60-second finish result in a wine that transcends the vintage as well as this estate’s 1855 classification. This enormously endowed, modern day classic is a legend in the making. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2050+.

Enormous credit is due proprietor Alfred Tesseron for turning things around at this estate in 1994, and continuing to produce first-growth level wines. Pontet-Canet is one of the few bio-dynamically farmed vineyards in the Medoc, and Tesseron is such a perfectionist in both the vineyard and wine cellars that his nickname among other bordelais is “”Monsieur Bonsai.””
