About the wine
A full-bodied, deep Pinotage with ripe dark berries, plum and black cherry. It has a firm structure, ripe tannins and a long, warm finish supported by a measured use of oak.
Pairs well with beef, game and slow-cooked meat dishes.
Kanonkop Pinotage 2018 comes from one of Stellenbosch’s oldest and most respected estates, widely regarded as a benchmark for Pinotage. For decades, Kanonkop has focused on traditional winemaking that brings out the grape’s character, structure and ageing potential.
Low-yielding vines produce concentrated, expressive grapes. After fermentation under controlled conditions, the wine ages in oak barrels, gaining depth and balance while retaining its fruit character.
Ripe black berries, plum and black cherry lead the aroma, with a hint of smoke. Spice, cocoa and an earthy note sit in the background. The palate is dry and full-bodied, with firm, ripe tannins and acidity that keeps it lively and structured. The finish is long, warm and spicy.
Kanonkop Pinotage 2018 is ready to enjoy now and will continue to develop in the cellar, becoming rounder and more complex over time.
